How to Build the Most Intense Big Daddy Costume Ever

Remember that cat who made those super-impressive replicas of the Portal site grease-gun and Little Sister syringe? He decided to step up his game and make a Big Daddy costume, and helium's waiting to teach you how to draw your ain, if you've got vii weeks to spare.

Propmaker Harrison Krix does not joke around when it comes to making real-life replicas of famous videogame objects. His Portal site gun for hire and Piddling Sister ADAM syringe were impressive enough, but Krix has really outdone himself this clock around with his Big Daddy costume for Dragon*Con 2009, a project which took Krix a cool seven weeks and a heap of labor.

Anyway, if you've got the time and materials to trim, Krix has a detailed step-by-step documentation of how the project came together. IT started with blueprints, which Krix prepared from the 2K Bioshock artbooks, and past went in stairs, from the main body to the helmet bonce to the bore arm to the bean cage and then finishing touches.

The main body was built from insulation and expanding foam, unfold fabric, fiberglass resin and more. The dome was really built from a security measures camera dome (those menacing looking black half-spheres you see in emporium ceilings) with the portholes made with silcone. As for the drill, you've got matteboard, aluminum rod, foam, fibreglass resin and a DeWalt 12V cordless drill to make the thing in reality spin. Yes, the practice session arm works. What the infernal region.

All all told, Krix says the matter weighs around 50 or 60 pounds. Without the arms he could manage walk-to with simpleness, but with them attached he could only stand in place for about 30 minutes at one time. Close outside in the Atlanta heat, he says, "deckled along suicide." At that place's a reasonableness they call it Hotlanta, man.
